The Yuuzhan Vong (referred to as Vong in game) are one of six playable races available in the SoGE mod. They are unique in that their vessels are organic in nature, which allows for a higher than average repair speed, even during battle, as well as an emphasis on firepower. Their research tree primarily focuses on shielding and firepower upgrades, along with a small number of potent economic upgrades. While their ships may seem to have a lot of health, when their shields hit zero, the ship will begin to "die": they will lose nearly all of their hull strength, become immobile, will no longer fire on enemy targets or regenerate health, and after 60 seconds the ship will be gone for good, assuming it isn't destroyed before hand. Thus, in truth, the only health of Vong units is their "shields". The Vong are typically a mid-late game threat.

History[]

The Yuuzhan Vong—"Bastards of Yun-Yuuzhan", also called the Forgotten Race, and sometimes incorrectly abbreviated to Vong, were a sentient species which nearly destroyed the KOTOR, and were responsible for the deaths of nearly 365 quadrillion sentients during their invasion of the galaxy.

The Yuuzhan Vong and their Chazrach slaves were among the few alien species known to originate outside the galaxy (the only known others being the Silencio and the Abominables). A typical Yuuzhan Vong resembled a Human in form, though they were taller and heavier than the average Human and had less hair on their heads. The Yuuzhan Vong were religious zealots, who viewed technology as blasphemy. Their technological innovations were genetically engineered and purely organic. Additionally, the Yuuzhan Vong deeply respected pain to the point of masochism, and strove to improve their physical capabilities through organ grafting. Such grafting was a status symbol within Yuuzhan Vong society.

Perhaps most notably, the Yuuzhan Vong were unable to be sensed through the Force. This confounded the Jedi who first encountered the Yuuzhan Vong. However, they were susceptible to some Force attacks.

For further information, consult the Wookieepedia page on the Yuuzhan Vong. This was quoted from said article.

Tactics[]

The Yuuzhan Vong are what could be termed a direct fire fleet, they thrive in direct fleet engagements where they can make the best use of their firepower and armor. They lack the advanced fighter types of other factions and lack capital ships specialised in fighter/bomber wings. They more than make up for this with the potency of their direct weapons and the ability to utterly dismantle fleets that cannot trade blows with them. There is the potential to struggle against bomber-heavy fleets, which can be covered for with fighters and anti-fighter ships.

Economically, they are quite lacking compared to other factions, with their only real economic bonus being their salvaging ability. However, bonuses to ship and structure build times, fast growth rates and free extractors upon invasion mean they can get set up very quickly setup in new systems. The sheer tankiness of their ships does lessen the economic burden compared to some factions.
